RE:

University of 黑料社appBoard of Regents (BoR) Motion February 21. 2025

As follow-up to the BoR motion last week, I want to ensure that we are taking the appropriate steps to implement the BoR鈥檚 direction. I also want to ensure that we are communicating effectively to the UAF community and that we are able to continue our support for students, staff, and faculty. Specifically, please work with your units to ensure that we meet the board鈥檚 expectation that:

  1. the Universities鈥 websites and other electronic or print material representing each university, no longer refer to 鈥渁ffirmative action,鈥 鈥淒EI鈥 nor utilize the words 鈥渄iversity,鈥 鈥渆quity,鈥 鈥渋nclusion.鈥.
  2. Where applicable, UAF position titles and office titles no longer refer to 鈥渁ffirmative action,鈥 鈥淒EI鈥 nor utilize the words 鈥渄iversity,鈥 鈥渆quity,鈥 鈥渋nclusion.鈥 Nickole Conley, Chief of Staff, will reach out to units and supervisors of positions that have been directly identified.

As you seek to address the BoR鈥檚 guidance, please consider that different DEI expressions in our organization and their usage can be addressed in several ways. It is important to remember that we are committed to every student鈥檚 success and a belonging environment for all.

UAF Advancement will work on the institutional websites and communicate the language used so it can be helpful to your work and consistency across platforms and divisions. I want to thank you each for your leadership and the work that you do on behalf of our university.
