STRIKE! A Musical and Dramatic Revue
Devised and Directed by Flyn Ludington
STRIKE! is a compilation of songs and scenes from the 20th century, with a common theme of the oppression and perseverance of the working class. Songs have been selected from contemporary musicals, including Les Miserables, Rent, and Newsies. Scenes and monologues are by a range of playwrights and artists, including Clifford Odets, Langston Hughes, and Diane Benson.
General Audition Information
Auditions will be held in person at Theatre UAF in the Salisbury Lab Theatre in the Fine Arts Complex. Theatre UAF auditions are open to anyone in the community!
Audition details
- Auditions will be held Saturday, January 18th, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m or by appointment. Walk-ins are welcome to audition, and will be seen in a first come-first served basis. Please check-in in the Great Hall prior to your audition time.
- Callbacks will be held Sunday, January 19th, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Only requested individuals will need to return for call backs. NOTE: you may be cast without a callback.
- Actors should arrive a few minutes early to fill out an audition form, or they can and fill it out in advance.
- Actors should prepare a short Monologue and/or 16 bars of a song (please bring sheet music for piano)
- Actors will be asked to read printed "" from the script. Paper copies will be provided.
What to bring with you
- Loose, comfortable clothing that you can move around in
- List of your recent theater singing credits, performance or technical
- Your calendar of schedule conflicts for January through March
- Sheet music for piano
Rehearsal information
Rehearsals will be Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in the lab theater starting January 20th. You will not be called to every rehearsal. Shows will run for two weekends, March 21-30.
Performance dates and times
Performances will be at the 黑料社app Lee H. Salisbury Theatre March 21-30, 2025.
PLEASE VERIFY YOUR AVAILABILITY AS YOU MUST BE IN TOWN FOR SHOW DATES AND DURING TECH WEEK March 17-21 TO ACCEPT ANY ROLE IN THIS PRODUCTION!
Character descriptions
Roles Available:
- At least 15 actors, a minimum of which 7 must be strong singers.
- We are excited to prioritize a diverse ensemble, with a majority of roles filled by BIPOC performers.
Casting Requirements:
- We are specifically looking for at least one Black actor, one Latino actor/singer, and one Indigenous Alaskan actor.
- Performers of all genders are encouraged to audition.
