BIO

Noelle Helder works with ACEP as an 黑料社appSea Grant Fellow, where she uses a combination of sonar, drones and satellite imagery to map Alaska's coastal and nearshore environments to support hydrokinetic energy infrastructure.

Prior to her time with ACEP, Helder has worked on marine geospatial projects from the tropics to the deep sea, including mapping the effects of climate change on coral reef ecosystems and developing remotely operated vehicle (ROV) dive plans to explore the Atlantic seabed.

She holds an M.S. in ecology and evolutionary biology from the University of Alberta, and a B.S. in biology from the University of South Florida.

Helder enjoys spending her free time in Fairbanks, exploring northern ecosystems by foot, boat and ski. She is also in training to row across the Atlantic Ocean in December 2023 with a 4-woman team of marine scientists to advocate for ocean conservation and education.
