Coming in 2025!

With all the growing going on at the garden each summer, our students and participants are producing lots of fresh, healthy food! They’re even learning to make value-added products such as pesto and jams! What do we do with all that produce? Currently, most of it is donated to local food pantries including the Fairbanks Community Food Bank, Stone Soup Cafe and other organizations committed to eradicating hunger in our community.

 

To generate funding for future collaborations and educational programming, the Alaska Harvest Collaborative plans to establish a student-run CSA program starting in 2025. We hope that you will choose to participate by:

  1. Drop by a Nanook Grown produce table this summer! You can find them at the Georgeson Botanical Garden during Music in the Garden performances on Thursday evenings or outside the Wood Center on Thursday afternoons starting in mid-June from 12-2 pm. Come donate, and while you're there, pick up some fresh produce to take home!
  2. Complete the survey (coming soon) to help us develop a CSA that best serves you
  3. Subscribe to our newsletter so you don’t miss what’s happening
  4. Follow the ºÚÁÏÉçappHarvest Collaborative on and and share with friends.
  5. Next year, subscribe or purchase weekly food boxes for yourself or sponsor someone in need.

The ºÚÁÏÉçappHarvest Collaborative introduces new student grown CSA

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new ºÚÁÏÉçappHarvest Collaborative Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. All produce is grown and harvested by Nanook Grown students and participants in the ºÚÁÏÉçappHarvest Collaborative program at the UAF Farm. This program offers you the opportunity to enjoy fresh, locally grown produce while supporting the next generation of sustainable farmers and environmental stewards.

Located at the UAF Experiment Farm on the Troth Yeddha’ campus in Fairbanks, the Alaska Harvest Collaborative works to foster community based experiential learning opportunities for Alaskans, by Alaskans.

By joining the AK Harvest Collaborative CSA, you'll be directly supporting agricultural education programming and student-led agriculture projects, while gaining access to responsibly-grown seasonal produce.

Our Produce:

-Grown using ecologically responsible farming methods

-No pesticides or herbicides

-Produced and harvested by Nanook Grown students at the UAF Farm

-Includes recipes and preservation tips to help you make the most of your share

-A diverse selection of seasonal Alaskan crops

-Your membership directly supports agricultural workforce development and food system training in our community.

What You Can Expect:

-Weekly share pickup at the ºÚÁÏÉçappHarvest Collaborative Farm Stand during Music in the Garden

Where: Georgeson Botanical Garden

When: Thursdays from 4:30 to 7pm

June 26 through September 11 (excluding July 3 and September 4)

-Reusable produce bag for carrying your weekly share. Yours to keep at the end of the season. (value $20).

-At least 10 weekly shares of hand-harvested, seasonal produce from our garden suitable for a family of 3-4 people:

Early season: Asparagus, rhubarb, chives, radishes, garlic scapes, lettuce, and greens

Mid season: Early season crops plus Zucchini, fresh herbs, celery, broccoli and cauliflower, cucumbers, tomatoes, peas, and beets

Late season: An abundance of mid-season vegetables plus winter squash, kohlrabi, cabbage, leeks, peppers, eggplant, green beans, carrots, potatoes, and other root vegetables.
